Michael Joseph Jackson Born August 29, 1958 - Died June 26 2009
Prince Michael (as he was known) made his debut onto the music scene in at the young age of 5 as a member of the Jackson 5. This was the beginning of a career that spanned 4 decades with a history of number 1 chart toppers that lead him to be dubbed “The King of Pop” Love him or hate him, Michael Jackson was undoubtedly one of the worlds most know and most controversial individuals.
Born in 1958 to Joe Jackson and Katherine Ester, his father Joe was a steel mill worker who performed in an R&B band called The Falcons with his brother Luther. Despite the strict upbringing and religious doctrine his father had received from his mother whilst growing up, he was to become a child abuser who took delight in physically and mentally abusing his children.
Michael had to endure long rehearsal sessions as a young boy and had to accept whippings and name-calling as part of his general daily life. Michael also had to endure being tripped and pushed to the ground, shoved into walls, repeated beatings and humiliation at the hands a little man who called himself a father.
Michael was once quoted as saying that his success could also be attributed in part to his father, but I would rather assume that Michael Jackson “Jacko” was always destined to succeed due to his roar talent and not the beatings he received at the hands of a child abuser (which Michael also called him during an interview with opera).
Michael was the 7th child of nine children. Some of his siblings have also gone on to become successful career singers.
